Workshop Series on Bridging Abstract and Numerical Linear Algebra
Sepideh Stewart, Rachel Quinlan, Mike Michailidis
University of Oklahoma, University of Galway, MathWorks
We invite the ILAS community to join us in a workshop on Sunday afternoon, June 22, before the ILAS Conference in Taiwan.
Everyone is welcome: please indicate your interest in participating here.
This workshop will discuss ways of bridging abstract and numerical linear algebra. Our topics are included but not limited to the following:
- How to introduce numerical linear algebra in a first course to students (some examples of coding and programming will be provided),
- The role of AI in teaching and learning linear algebra,
- Collaboration, sharing resources (GitHub), and publication
- Future workshop(s)
Date: Sunday, June 22, 2025
Time: 2-4 pm
Venue: College of Science SC4009-0
The Schedule:
- Introduction Sepideh Stewart
- Numerical demonstrations and assignments for an abstract linear algebra course Mike Michailidis
- Ideas for generative AI, numerical experiments in the classroom Mike Michailidis
- Open Discussion Rachel Quinlan
This workshop is part of a series. We will announce the next event after the conference.
We look forward to seeing you in Kaohsiung!
